Hermans Technisolar managed the complete facade renovation and the installation of a sustainable solar energy solution for Broekhuis Holding at Volvo Utrecht as part of their sustainability project.
Volvo Utrecht faced the challenge of making their energy consumption more sustainable while also generating more power for their own use and to charge their fleet of vehicles. Since the roof of the building was unsuitable for solar panels, a solar facade was chosen.
This involved the complete facade renovation, from removing the old facade to installing a new sandwich panel facade. Then, in collaboration with Alius, who supplied the mounting materials for the solar panels, the system was installed, connected, and commissioned.
The installation consists of 241 solar panels mounted on the building’s facade. As a result, nearly half of the annual energy consumption of 160,000 kWh is now generated locally. This significantly contributes to Volvo Utrecht’s sustainability goals and energy savings.
