Hotel Jakarta is a unique and sustainable hotel, owned by WestCord Hotels and designed by SeARCH architects. Hotel Jakarta approached Hermans Technisolar to help fulfil its energy-neutral commitment.
We supplied 400m2 of custom-made and insulated Powerglaz panels for the atrium. The installed Powerglaz panels have a capacity of 32kWp and can convert into electricity for heating the water in the hotel rooms.
Partly due to the Poweglaz panels, the sustainability performance meets the requirements of the BREEAM Excellent certificate.
Installing Powerglaz panels did not impact the natural light required to create the subtropical interior garden under the atrium. Despite the solar cells used in the glass, the garden still has a light transmittance of approximately 50%, and the solar cells also function as sun blinds.
