The Grotius building is centrally located in a beautiful green area of the Radboud University campus. The modest footprint of the university building, designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects, opens it up to its surroundings, giving it a warm and welcoming feel. Hermans Technisolar were asked to supply 300 customised Powerglaz solar panels for the two atria in the building without compromising insulation values.
Design with triple glass to hold insulation value, 300 BIPV panels were installed, which feature 20 or 10 cells per panel, delivering a total installed capacity of 20 kWp.
Due to low cell investment, a good balance between installed capacity and daylight transmittance was achieved.
